How To Create An Interior Design Website

You wanna know how to create an interior design website that gets you clients, right? Well you are in the right place.

And we aren't going over the basics of setting up a website, because these days it's easy as pie to get your domain, hosting and website going. What you really need is the nitty-gritty of what goes into how to create an interior design website that gets you more clients.

Your interior design website is on duty 24/7. Is it working for you or just something pretty to look at?

Sometimes I wonder if interior designers think of their websites as another room to decorate.

Let me throw some pillows over there.

A pop of color here.

That window over there is too short! Raise the drapes to make it appear taller, dahling.

My eye is drawn to the blinky ad. Yes! The cute one... move it up, oh right there. Love it!

And of course I hope you read that in a "Martin Lawrence Bullard" voice.

You shouldn't be treating your interior design website like another room to decorate.

Yes, your website needs to be attractive, but it can't just be pretty.

Tip #1 Home Page Purpose:

Home page with purpose. Who do you serve? Who's your ideal client? Would they know they were meant to be your client if they landed on your home page?

Tip #2 About Page:

About page about "them". You are telling them ABOUT what you are going to do for THEM. Bonus points if it has your smiling face.

Tip #3 Contact Page:

Contact page. A way for people to contact you after they have checked out your website and decided they want to talk to you. (brendalovesdylan@yahoo.com thrown on a page does not count as a proper "contact page").

Tip #4 Email Opt In:

Email opt-in. A way for your peeps to keep up to date with your business. You'll send them a newsletter but give it a better name.

Tip #5 Portfolio:

Portfolio. Your design work so peeps can see if you are their dream designer. Or not. And if you aren't their dream designer, let them see that. You would rather have them click off because you weren't a fit because of your different styles, right? Bless and release.

Tip #6 Content:

Content. This is a place to show off your personality. When your peeps read what you write, they can "feel" you. (I know that sounds dumb, but it gets the point across.) Talk about your designs, the next trend, your favorite candle brand, whatever you want. Don't worry about not being the best writer (just don't be the worst) but a passionate writer. Let your interior design passion come through in your content.
