This Is The Wrong Way To Market Interior Design Services

"We believe every homeowner..." insert whatever you want after that.

Do you know how many times I see that on interior designer's websites? Like 184,498 times a week.

Just stop effing doing that.

No wonder clients aren't knocking on your virtual door.

I don't care what you believe about every homeowner. If I'm your client I want you thinking about me. Not me and my neighbors. Not me and every person who watches HGTV. Not every effing homeowner on the planet. I want you to care about me. The person putting money in your pocket.

You treat your website like it's a healing center for abused homeowners.

Your design business is not to believe in every homeowner or what you believe every homeowner should have.

You design business is to give your dream client exactly what they want. And they don't want you caring about the world of homeowners, they want you to care ONLY about them.

How To Market Interior Design Services

When you talk to everyone, you talk to no one.

If you honestly think that your purpose in this world is to serve every homeowner, you're gonna have a tough go at marketing to every homeowner. Do you know how many different types of homeowners there are out there? They don't all have the same needs. They don't all have the same personality.

Write to one person, touch their heart and inspire their imagination

When you write to all the homeowners of the world you are just being lazy. #sorrynotsorry

You can't work with all the homeowners of the world, you're not the Amazon of Interior Designers. Unless you have a meth addiction and a multi-million dollar marketing budget.

Picture Your Client BFF

Is it a man or a woman? Are they young or old? Do they have a family or are they a jet-setting businessman? Get down to the nitty-gritty (not the dirt band) and figure out exactly who you want to work with.

Have no effing clue who your Client BFF is?

Then you have some work to do. Nothing that you could do with your website, your packages, your blogging will become any easier until you pick that one Client BFF to go steady with. You might want to check it out or risk turning off every homeowner that comes across your website.

Spell Out The After

Clients want to know how you solve their problem, but also how their life is going to look after working with you. Paint the picture for them so they get inspired to work with you because the future's so bright when they choose YOU.

You are going to create a one-of-a-kind experience that they are so excited to share with you. That's what they are buying from you so just give 'em what they want, not something that's for every homeowner.
