Why A Lot Of Indigo Adults Make Awesome Holistic Interior Designers

Ever feel like you've never belonged, or the period you were born into? I feel the same.

I was sitting in the back of my mom's car where I was about 5, in a city that we had never been to before, telling her that I'd been here before. She said that was impossible.

That wasn't the last time that I would experience Déjà vu. It would happen time and again with people and places.

I felt like didn't belong where I lived, always feeling more at home on the East Coast. A place I have never lived.

I felt drawn a lot of times to people at least 20 years older than myself and found that the conversations were so much more comfortable and thoughtful. When I had conversations with most people my age I wanted to poke my eardrums out with a rusty paper clip. The inane topics, the lack of self-awareness, the overwhelming apathy was too much for me.

When trying to hang out with people my age, I always felt like I was talking in some foreign language and couldn't get my point across. They'd look at me like I had two heads believing that what they saw here was all there was to life.

All my life, I've been told that I was judgemental. But really, I knew what was right and what was utterly dumb.

I'd attempt to make myself fit in, time and again which never worked leaving me filled with anxiety all the time.

I have no idea how Alf was able to assimilate to life here on Earth so easily ;)

For years, I'd fight with my current dissatisfaction with living a life that made no sense to me on a soul level, but I looked like a "normal" person to everyone else.

You know where that gets you? Wondering when things will just be easy. And by easy, I don't mean there is no struggle in this life because I fully believe that those struggles help you grow. I say easy regarding letting the facade go, so you didn't have to feel like you're a fraud on some level because you don't feel like you're allowed to be who you really are.

So many of us feel this way, and after 40 years of this for me, that shit gets old. I feel like I've been on a spiritual path for years. Some things resonate with me, and some things don't. But there I would be again, trying to fit the square peg into the round hole.

Last year I started to dive in deeper to crystal healing and become intrigued. I've always loved rocks, crystals, gemstones, minerals, and metals. My initial attraction wasn't based on seeing the art of crystal healing, but that I like pretty rocks. But this is where I think we get glimpses of our purpose and if we pay attention we can connect the dots!

So there I was on Pinterest, and a pin caught my eye about Indigo children which led me to buy a book on the topic. That's where I found that all the things that the world had told me about myself were wrong.

You know when you pick up a book and you know it to be true? That's what happened when I read "Indigo Adults". I felt like I had found the owner's manual I'd been missing all these years. See if these traits don't resonate with you, too.

Indigo Adult Traits:

  • Old Soul. Indigo adults are old souls stuck in a world we don't understand. We're headstrong and creative empaths ready to share the wisdom we have with others.

  • Rebels. You know what they say you should do, but you don't want anything to do with it. When you feel that you aren't in control or being pressured into something, you push back. And then there are times when you don't want any friction at all, so you just go with the flow, even when internally you don't want to.

  • Dreamers. Often you'll see things as they are and then you ask why it is that way. Which oftentimes leads to making your dreams come true (or dreaming about it all the time) and some people just don't get the dreamer.

  • Truth Seeker. The truth is of utmost importance. You are like a dog with a bone when it comes to getting to the bottom of things because believing a lie is a fate worse than death itself.

  • Lie Detectors. You can spot a lie or a liar a mile away. It drives you bonkers when lies are told or lived. When we believe the untruths that people tell us about ourselves we hate that just as much. It leads you to put up walls because people don't like it when the status quo is being challenged.

  • Empath. You feel vibes. Whether it's the vibes of the room or other people's vibes. At times you doubt your spidey senses because you're a wee bit insecure to trust yourself. After all, the world has given you a false narrative about yourself that leads you to doubt what you feel because you don't have concrete proof of your feelings.

  • Free Thinker. Following a crowd is out of the question. You'll come up with your own conclusions and trust your intuition to lead you.

  • Leader. At times, you may have felt that you chose to be the leader because no one else stepped up to fill the role *cough* every group project in school *cough*. That's not it though. You're truly a leader so to sit back and let someone else lead won't work for you. This is also why many Indigo Adults become entrepreneurs.

  • Loner. For years, it's been really difficult to find other old souls to connect with. When you can't find the other old souls, you become a bit of a loner. Have no fear, I think this spot right here is where you'll find some old souls to connect with.

  • Conformity Kills. You can't be put into a box that everyone else is fine to live in and sometimes you're seen as the rule breaker.

  • Multi-Passionate. We're the artists, the psychics, the empaths, the healers, the communicators.

If those traits ring true, you might just be an Indigo Adult working as a holistic designer.

You're the perfect person to help your clients express what's inside of them perfectly through design. You feel the need to always connect with the meaning behind everything you do in your work. That's why working with shitty clients who simply want what they saw at Pottery Barn doesn't do it for you.

Simply put, you're here to help others raise their vibe by creating the spaces that your clients need.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
