The Interior Designer Sales Pitch You Gotta Know

If you don't know the interior designer sales pitch to get yourself clients then you're gonna be in deep doo-doo.

When I started my own interior design business I didn't know I'd be doing more sales than designs. Getting my interior designer sales pitch down was so hard.

I made the common mistake and was just trying to sell people on my talent. That's where it goes wrong.

Every project with a client starts with them first. Their needs, their desires, their goals. You can't lead off with your talent. It's like standing out on a street corner like a hooker with a mood board saying...

"Hey! Looky here! I can make rooms pretty? Want some? You're gonna love it!"

To which the prospective client in their mind is saying...

"Mmmmmkay. It's pretty but I don't need it."

All sales are based on emotion. If you don't tap into their emotion, you get no sales. Sure they may need a pretty room, but if you don't dig deeper and find out WHY they need this pretty room, like TODAY, they won't care.

Your interior designer sales pitch must talk to their problem and it goes much deeper than a rendering and a mood board.

How can you figure this out? You need to focus on what drives them. Usually, there is an event or person that makes them need to follow through with hiring an interior designer.

Maybe you're a staging expert - the reason someone will hire you is that they want to get top dollar for their home.

Maybe you're an interior designer - may be your client just bought their first family home and need to make it pretty and functional without wasting money and time at the mall every weekend.

People will hire you first when they discover they need to hire you and you need to know their why. It's so important to forming your unique interior designer sales pitch.
